Hertford Philosophical Society
Events
Our next Philosophical Society dinner takes place on Thursday 20th January 2011. We start with drinks in the Old Library from 6:30, with dinner and the after-dinner talk in the Old Hall from 7:15. Formalities are usually over by 10:00, but discussion at these events can go on long into the night (especially at the June event which takes place after all examinations have finished).
Plans are under way for a special dinner on May 6th 2011 to celebrate David Hume's tercentenary (at midnight, his 300th birthday arrives, at least according to the Gregorian Calendar). If all goes well, old members will be very welcome to this event, which is planned for the Dining Hall.
Recent events have included:
20/1/11 Julian Savulescu (Uehiro Professor) "Procreative Beneficence: The moral obligation to select the best children"
1/12/10 Christmas Drinks Event
19-22/4/10 First Philosophical Society "Retreat" at Stow-on-the-Wold
